With this exciting food and wine tour Sorrento House Travel will let you discover the aromas, the flavors, the views and the old crafts that have made the Land of the Sirens famous all over the world, and we will delight you with tastings of our typical products.
First stop at the Gargiulo mill: we will visit the olive grove and the areas for the cultivation and harvesting; we will proceed with the visit at the old mill, built in 1849, with its millstones and the metal press which replicates the ancient technique for processing olives; then we will visit the “new” mill and see how olives are processed nowadays, in a less fascinating but more secure way, and finally we will taste “extra virgin” olive oil and typical local products.
Ready to start again, along the way we will make a brief stop to admire one of the most spectacular landscapes… the “due golfi” (two bays)! You can capture in a single shot both the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno.
We will let you discover the secrets of the Fior di latte and Provolone del Monaco typical cheeses. Once at the cheese factory, you will be welcomed by the master cheese makers, a family with over three generations of experience in the field, so you can see all the stages of preparation of this product which is so tasty and known throughout the world… and of course taste it !!
Finally we will take you in a famous winery in the area for a visit to the winery and a wine tasting. The activity of this company started many years ago as a hobby and it has been handed down from generation to generation, becoming now a real art and gaining the DOC certification. They provide most of the hotels and restaurants of Sorrento with their delicious wine. The latest addition to their line are the DOC 2006 white and red wines.
For lunch we have chosen a quiet area, away from the tourist trail, a place where you can enjoy appetizers according to what is available in the season: vegetables, salami and ham from our own, Fior di Latte, followed by fresh pasta or pizza, a “lemon delight” cake and a glass of iced limoncello… and coffee!!
